Judy Augenstein goes the extra mile in providing
information to me regarding forestry issues. She has a wealth of
knowledge and a wide range of contact, and, in addition, she returns
phone calls quickly. She works very hard for the industry.

"Judy does her homework. She has established a good working relationship with the legislators, gets to know those in leadership positions who can influence political and economic concessions for our timber industry, and she maintains a high level of credibility with loggers and legislators, alike. I guess the best way to sum it up is we've not been unsuccessful on any legislative issues since we began working with Judy in 1979."
Peter Grieves,
retired Executive Director, Michigan Association of Timbermen
"The most significant economic development activity in the central U.P. was the location of a $42 million maximum security prison through the direct lobby efforts of Judy Augenstein. She was instrumental in bringing the right people together at the right time through her lobby efforts. Without her expertise the project would have failed."
Jack Krueger, former EDC Director, Alger County
Judy keeps the Michigan Bingo and Charitable Gaming Association informed of the constant changing laws and regulations impacting our industry. She is a knowledgeable, well respected and an effective legislative consultant."
Jim Bouman, President, Michigan Bingo and Charitable Gaming Association
"It is with great pleasure that I
write on behalf of my professional association’s experience with Judy Augenstein, our legislative consultant in Lansing. The Michigan Septic
Tank Association (MSTA) has become more than just another professional
group in our state capital thanks to Judy. Her professionalism and
credibility with legislators, as well as other government and private
groups has had a great impact on the regulations that affect our
industry. Only representing our association for a few years, and
in the part time capacity, Judy still put our interests in the right
places and helped us to communicate with many of the right people in
Lansing. She made sure MSTA was at the table during crucial negotiations
with the Department of Environmental Quality and other special interest
groups during the revision of the part 117 rules that regulate our
industry. She was a key player in “navigating the ship” on course during
the writing of this legislation which became law in October 2004. Judy
continues to monitor legislation that may influence our industry. In my
opinion, Judy Augenstein is a fantastic professional consultant for the
Michigan Septic Tank Association."
Mark N. Scott, Treasurer, Michigan Septic Tank Association

Mindy Koch, Chief, Forest, Minerals & Fire Division, DHR presenting Judy Augenstein, Lobbyist with DNR 100 year commemorative plaque for her work efforts. The award was presented at the September '03 Lake States Lumber Association Logging Congress.
Notes
Dear Judy:
I just wanted to congratulate you on your recent award from Mindy Koch, Chief of the Forest, Mineral, and Fire Division in the Michigan DNR. And, it was so appropriate she did the presentation at the LSLA Logging Congress breakfast in Escanaba, among our Michigan Legislators, all of us Lake States members, and guests. We've always known what a great job you do as our LSLA Lobbyist, but I think it's exceptional the DNR has recognized you for your efforts. One of the things Mindy mentioned is how you've kept an open line of communication between the forest products industry and the DNR and we could not achieve this without you! I heard Gunnar, our Wisconsin Lobbyist, and Gene Francisco, the now retired Wisconsin Chief State Forester, said they've never heard of this type of recognition for a lobbyists and they were impressed! Thank you for the great job you've done for us Judy, and we are confident you will continue. Congratulations again!
Diane M. Beauchamp, Director of the Board of the Lakes States Lumber Association
